Filevine has launched LOIS Explore, a free version of its Legal Operating Intelligence System that allows legal professionals to test the company’s artificial intelligence tools without providing a credit card or making a continuing commitment.

LOIS Explore is intended for legal research, document analysis, drafting and semantic searches across materials uploaded by users. Filevine said the system can process files as large as 5 gigabytes and documents containing as many as 15,000 pages. Responses include citations that users can review against the underlying source material.

For law firms, the free service provides an opportunity to evaluate legal AI on substantial case files before purchasing or integrating the technology into existing workflows. Available functions include reviewing case materials, checking citations against case law and identifying potential privilege issues. Users may select litigation, transactional or advisory settings to tailor the platform to their work.

Filevine said LOIS was developed using structured data drawn from 40 million legal matters. The company also said documents uploaded to LOIS Explore will not be used to train AI models and that accounts, documents and chat histories will be permanently deleted when each free-access period ends.

The free version operates in a separate testing environment. Firms seeking to connect LOIS to active case data, collaborate across teams or retain customized prompts must contact Filevine about its paid services. Access requires verifiable contact information associated with a law firm or legal business.
